Utah Lions won the toss and elected to bat first. Sabercats captain Nasir Khan was hoping they would, because of the unknowns of how the newly remodeled pitch would play.
As usual, Atif started the innings with his thunderous and destructive pace making the opposition batsmen uncomfortable and took a wicket in his second over. After the first bowling change Saeed and Arun made it even more difficult for the opposing batsmen to score against them. Arun displayed great bowling skills by taking 3 wickets in five overs and only gave up 18 runs.
The batting highlights were led by the Sabercat's new addition, opening batsman Shazad, who scored a match high 67 runs not out, Kamran added 36 runs. Overall, it was a perfect day for cricket and the newly laid carpet added beauty to the ground and a less predictable batting track. As expected, it provided help to both the bowlers and the batsmen.
